BACKGROUND
REHEMA is a non-governmental organizationi (NGO) established in 1992 by three rural community development workers, Catherine Mboya, Margaret Ogembo, and Geraldine Robarts, who have a total of 36 years experience in rural development programmes in East Africa. They have come together with their complementary extensive experience to be more effective in developing small scale rural development projects, particularly among women.
Rehema aims to improve the lie of the poor regardless of religious affiliation. Rehema enjoys a close association with and has received the encouragement of the Bahá'í International Community and the Bahá'í communities of Kenya and Uganda. But it is not under the authority of any Bahá'í institution. Rehema works with and helps develop strong communities by creating a spirit of service where everyone has the opportunity to work.
The success of Rehema projects comes through its balance approach combining expertise in health care and human rights. Our NGO provides the human and physical resources needed to plan, develop and implement community and self-help programmes and projects which are income generating and sustainable.
